Creative, sustainable, independent

Fiona Gillies, Raj Sharma and Michael Mueller founded Scoop Films with three core values: Creativity, Sustainablity and Independence. We embody these principles in the film-making process from the moment an idea hits the page to the point where an audience sees the film on a screen.

As a production company we endeavour to create artistic and economic value through the practices we adopt and the people with whom we work. Diversity and embracing difference is a major element. For Scoop Films, diversity, is about who we are, what we do and the stories we tell.

Culture Positive is Scoop Films’ initiative that strives to foster the debate, promote change and ignite a passion for diversity within the entertainment industry and amongst decision makers. Audiences want to see a greater range of stories being told. The film industry needs to reflect this with multicultural and representative casting practices and support for a wider spectrum of talent both in front of and behind the camera. This way, value will be created for everyone.

An award winning writer, Michael has written and produced all of Scoop Films recent productions – AFTER LOUISE, THE BEAT BENEATH MY FEET and CITY SLACKER.

The Beat Beneath My Feet, starring Luke Perry and Screen International Star of Tomorrow Nicholas Galitzine, received it’s International Premiere at the Berlinale – Berlin International Film Festival. It also screened at the Raindance Film Festival and was nominated for a British Independent Film Award.

City Slacker enjoyed it’s world premiere in London where it was nominated for Best UK Feature at the Raindance Film Festival and a British Independent Film Award.

Michael wrote DUMMY, launching BAFTA nominated Aaron Johnson (Kick Ass, Anna Karenina). It premiered at the Edinburgh Film Festival, screened at Cannes and was nominated for Best UK Feature at Raindance.

Michael won the highly acclaimed Golden Chest Award for Best Screenplay for ISABELLA starring Irina Bjorklund (The American). The production also won a prestigious VENLA.

Fiona produced THE BEAT BENEATH MY FEET – the only British feature in competition for a prestigious Crystal Bear at the 2015 Berlinale – Berlin International Film Festival.

She produced and starred in CITY SLACKER, which was completed, launched and recouping within 2 years, and executive produced Matthew Thompson’s debut feature DUMMY, starring BAFTA nominated Aaron Johnson.

As an independent producer, she collaborated with Michael Mueller on TALK starring Suggs, and A GOOD LIFE (a UK/US co-pro).

Time spent behind and in front of the camera with such luminaries as Roger Michell (Four Weddings, Hyde Park on Hudson) and Tom Stoppard (Shakespeare in Love) enabled her to learn the nuts and bolts of film making from the best in the industry.

Most recently she is producing AFTER LOUISE for Scoop Films and has been selected for the Creative England Film Market Trader development programme.

Raj spent 15 years in finance working for international investment banks advising corporates on risk management issues. He brings his expertise in fund raising and management to Scoop Films.

He is producing AFTER LOUISE, produced THE BEAT BENEATH MY FEET and was executive producer on CITY SLACKER. These latter two films were both nominated for a British Independent Film Award and are now in global distribution.
